Each year models, celebrities, filmmakers and more beautiful people flock to the south of France for the annual Cannes film festival as they’ve been doing so since 1946.

And every year they are dressed to the nines, whether attending an evening premiere or just one of the many occurring events. This year sleek, sophisticated black gowns seemed more popular than in the past few years, and designer ETRO appeared to be favorited by the leggy French models who attended. So many great gowns and outfits, but we decided just to share the fashion highlights – the 21 that stood out from the crowd – good and bad.
