With two new cover variants photographed by the incomparable Annie Leibovitz, poet Amanda Gorman is the May Vogue Cover Girl – a youthful and inspirational heroine for all generations. The Vogue issue features an article and interview with the 23 year old who was introduced to the world at President Biden’s inauguration.

With her new prominence, Gorman says that her hope is to be “a stepping-stone for change.”
Styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, the young talented poet is wearing a Louis Vuitton blanket, cinched with a belt featuring a large ornate buckle – a look celebrating men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh’s personal African heritage, and belt. Tory Burch sandals.
In the second cover photo, Gorman is wearing a Dior Haute Couture dress and headband. Tory Burch sandals
Inside the magazine, an article about the astute beauty written by Doreen St. Felix is accompanied with more stunning photographs of Gorman by Leibovitz.

She estimated that she’s recently turned down $17 million in offers. “I didn’t really look at the details,” she said of one massive offer from a brand, “because if you see something and it says a million dollars, you’re going to rationalize why that makes sense.”

Amanda’s own words about the cover and editorial as she shared on social media:
The first poet ever on the cover of @voguemagazine.
I am eternally grateful & do not expect to be the last— for what is poetry if not beauty? What a joy to do this cover while wearing a piece designed by groundbreaking Black designer @virgilabloh that honors my heritage. It was a dream to be photographed by the indomitable @annieleibovitz & styled by @gabriellak_j who literally would carry me on her back & forth between set. Wow, my hands are shaking with love. This is called the Rise of Amanda Gorman, but it is truly for all of you, both named and unseen, who lift me up ??
Love,
AmandaSpecial thanks to my mom who helped with hair on-set and my on-site assistant @johnmumblo
